I have downloaded Twain Drivers and Desktopbinder lite software to windows 2003 server. I would like to set up the Rico Aficio 1515MF as a scanner, so that users can scan documents on scanner device(Rico Aficio) and save them in the network.
I am reading through the manual but could not find an easy way on how to set it up.

Have you installed printer driver for the ricoh on that computer?
You have to add smartdevice port (printer propertios-add port- new port- smartdevice port- then search. The IP address of 1515 shoud be displayed. (have you set IP address? - sorry stupid question).
If not you probably have firewall enabled on your computer . Disable it for the time of installation (and testing).
You can scan and mail documents with this device.
You can put email addresses of the users in the device so they have some sort of speed dial to mail the documents to them. (else the must enter there email address manually)
The user then gets a mail with the scanned document as a pdf.
Is there a reason why you don't want to use this?
The 1515 only supports Scanrouter, TWAIN, or scan to email.
Smartdevice monitor is nothing to do with scanning, it is just a printer port monitor.
Scanrouter Lite is no longer supported by Ricoh , it will not work with newer versions of windows (Vista or server 2003+), it is no longer available for download.
Installing Scanrouter is not a trivial task.
It needs to be installed on a computer that is on all of the time (whenever you need to scan). it cannot be a domain controller, it cannot be an email server, and you cannot use remote desktop at the same time, or it will crash.
Once installed, you need to associate it with the scanner, using the "add I/O device" option in the server menu, and then set up destinations which will appear on the copier.
.
wyliecoyoteuk:
I have installed ScanRouter V2 Administration utility in the Print server where the Ricoh print drivers are installed.
<<<Once installed, you need to associate it with the scanner, using the "add I/O device" option in the server menu>>>
when I run the Scanrouter if prompts me to type the server, when I type either the name of the server or the IP it says "the specified name or Ip is not valid"
did you say that I need to go to the console of the server in order to run the ScanRouter? if I use RDP to remote to the server and run ScanRouter it won't work??
wyliecoyoteuk is right - especialy about smartdevice monitor.
Location of instructions in user manual:
page 293-295 options (outline) of network scaning
page 296-305 device setup as scanner
page 306-323 software installation (with list of supported OSes)
page 321-336 sending scans as email
page 337-350 using network delivery
page 351-355 network twain scanner
Link of ScanRouter V2 Lite 2.0.6.0

Nashuatec, NRG, Ricoh, Afficio - they all have the same products under different names.
I have downloaded it from here:
http://74.125.47.132/searc
Now when I open the console of ScanRouter, I see :
Delivery Server
Local Host
Delivery table
Destination
Sender
etc...
What do I need to do next so that when I scan a document from RICOH I will be able to save the document in the network???
You may need to put in the IP address of the delivery server (the pc running scanrouter server). on the copier.
To do this go into user tools (press button with a diamond shape and "123" on it) and enter it under "scanner settings"
After entering the delivery server address, power cycle the copier.
here is a link to the Ricoh knowledge base
http://www.ricoh-support.c
It may be under system settings> file transfer> delivery server.
Not sure if it picks it up automatically or not, the later models do, not sure of the 1515, it one of the last to use scanrouter, so it might.
Check under the scanrouter admin server menu that services are running. If you can see "resume services" they aren't.
There can be various issues that cause that error.
Using RDP, (VNC works ok without causing Scanrouter to stop working)
Windows firewall blocking port 3670.
Server 2003 R2 policies blocking unsigned packets
Specifying a username without a password, or without admin rights.
I did point out above that Scanrouter will not work with Server 2003 (actually, it will, just not Server 2003 R2).
It was built for windows 2000, and not updated after XP.
Are you running it as a service? if so the username and password for the service will need admin rights.
It would be far easier to use scan to email, rather than struggle on with a deprecated peice of software.

You will need to install also smart device monitor for client - enables network communication between ricoh and computer. There is also program Scanrouter V2 Lite - for distribution of scaned documents over network.
