We are currently using Cherry USB card readers as our primary smart card devices for PKI CLO for a non-NMCI DOD network. For our authentication software we are using ActivClient 6.1. Our I dentity validation software is Tumbleweed Desktop Validator version 4.9.2. Our XP workstations are able to authenticate users just fine. Our issue is we have several W2K workstations that need to stay that way due to important production legacy applications that are not compatible with XP. When trying to logon via smart card we receve "The supplied handle is invalid" error. When logging in with user and password and running the ActivClient diagnostics with the card inserted in the reader, it says we need to initialize the card. The smart cards we are using have been initialized and were previously working when logging on to the XP machines. The odd thing is we are able to successfully remote login into these workstations with our smart card on DAMEWARE via RDP. All device manager indications are saying that the USB drivers for the reader are functioning normally.
