Capture a Still Image from a Webcam and upload it to the server.

Using Coldfusion Flash Form, or Flash, can I have the user activate his/her webcam, take a snapshot and upload that image to the server? I would really prefer to use coldfusion to do this.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

i don't know about coldfusion but you should have a look at the media server, which can record the video, flash would let them upload maybe coldfusion would but i don't know how coldfusion works.
that's not an answer just some thought.

CF processes server side code, so it can't help you without some client side code... which you could do with flash

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/webcam_motion_03.html

then you need to be able to save the bitmap
http://www.flash-db.com/Tutorials/snapshot/

then upload using cf's

cffile action = "upload"

(but cffile needs to aloowed..some hosting environs disable it.)

btw...this is -not- by using CF flash forms... you need an actual copy of Flash 8 minimum to create the client side swf
