I just put my computer display settings to 600 x 800 and the Dell webcam center video to 640 x 480. But it still shows a block box in the display area.

Browse All TopicsHello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 Laptop with a built in webcam.
When I open the webcam center and try and capture video, the blue light by the camera goes on, the record button is activated, but all I see is a black box in the display area.
I also tried this with skype and I get the same thing.
Can someone please help me?
Thank you.

Have you tried lowering your screen resolution. For testing purposes, try 800x600. I had the same exact problem with a LCD projector, and lowering the screen resolution worked. This may not be the solution, but it would be a start to rule it out.
