daacton,,,
I am so sorry for any inconvenience caused by me . but I meant to say in my previous link related to HP that you notice the following
"If your operating system is not listed, HP does not currently have software or driver downloads available for your product for that operating system, or they are not available in the language you have chosen"
And that was I meant to say that there could be no drivers issued by HP to support your webcam for Windows7 .

Hi -
I am on an HP dv7-1020us right now and my HP product page does not mention anything about Windows 7 either. Nor does the Fujitsu or Sony sites, but they are all running Windows 7 and have been for > 8 months. I use Vista drivers when need be. Intel, NVIDIA, Realtek, etc... all have come out with Beta drivers.
Please tell me the problem with the webcam - does it not turn on at all? What is the status of it in the Device Manager? I know that the software on this x64 system called YouCam is aweful. I got rid of it the momement that Windows 7 was installed.
What software - besides native HP - was installed for the WebCam (the CD you mentioned - what is on it)?

With the native Windows XP OS there wasn't any app for the webcam. It only appeared in windows explorer and would activate when opened there. It also was functioning when running Skype.
With Windows 7, it doesn't appear in explorer. The device manager shows it under imaging and scanning as Webcam-101. The drivers are windows drivers, and I can't find any app or utility to turn it on.
The CD is for recovery and includes all drivers and apps originally installed. There's nothing in any of the directories for imaging or video regarding the webcam. HP couldn't tell me the model or mfg for the webcam.
I have since removed Window 7 and restored the PC to factory condition running XP.
Hi -
Thank you for the information re: the webcam & XP. I did not know about that.
It is puzzling to me that the webcam does not work in Windows 7. This HP dv7-1020us works fine when Win 7 x64 is on it. The 2 drivers the webcam uses according to Device Manager -

I highly recommend to check the "Microsoft Hardware Support for Windows7" before installing Windows7 on any PC ... so please find if your hardware is really supported by Microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/h
Moreover,,, you can put the brand of the HP and look for the drivers over here then you can download them :
