I keep getting a Found New Hardware mesage on each boot ... there is none, and I can't correct the problem

I have XP Pro, I have HP DeskJet 882C, connected via USB

When I boot I get a message that New Hardware has been found, then a Wizard pops up and asks if I want to install a printer... I have answered yes completed the install, answered no, closed the box, uninstalling and reinstalling the existing printer, booted with nothing connected etc.... I always get the same dialog box on reboot, and a dialog box comes up after the wizard is done saying there was an error and that some hardware may not work properly... ... nothing has impacted the one printer I do have... it works fine.

I can't tell if this is an XP issue, a USB issue, or some PnP issue.... it is just an annoyance at each boot....

Any ideas on how to clear this??

oddly the messages HP has for the XP Wizard are not XP messages...  I have a HP DeskJet 882C and attempted to do something similar to their suggestions but without joy...

I have uninstalled, unplugged and still get the messages... its like they corrupted something in the registry or there is a PnP cache that won't flush.

When I try to delete I get "Cannot delete xxxx. Error while deleting key"
I get the same error as the person above. Could not delete the key successfully, and then windows wouldn't boot. Used Norton GoBack to get to point before attempted key delete. Back to square 1.
Looks like I'm pretty far behind on this, but since I was researching this particular product and dropped by I thought I'd clarify for anyone else having trouble deleting the key.

When you have the troublesome registry key selected click the 'Edit' tab, select 'Permissions', and make sure 'Full Control' is checked for the Group/User Name 'Everyone'. I came across this myself regarding the lptenum key so I thought I'd just let everyone know it's a simple fix.
