The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem with HP CDR 4020i + AHA2940UW Adaptec

I have problems getting my HP Surestore 4020i CDR to work properly in my system consisting of an AHA2940UW SCSI-card (64 MB RAM - pentium 100).

Bios of SCSI-card is enabled - booting from an IDE HD - the only other SCSI device in my system is a Micropolis AV HD.  CD-ROM SCSI ID = 2 / Micropolis HD ID = 1.

CD-ROM (SCSI-2) is attached with an internal 8-bit 50-pin SCSI cable - Micropolis HD (FAST SCSI-2 Wide 16-bit) attached with an 16-bit 68-pin internal Wide SCSI cable.

- Error in Win95 : CDR is seen and works with Easy CD       Creator.  In Explorer however the CDR gets a drive       assignment but when I click on it i get the message "G: is   not accessible. A device attached to the system is
  not functioning".

- Error in NT4.0 : At first look everything works but when    copying a cd to HD i get errors at certain files (files     with a big size mostly - always the same files).  The   error  message is : "Cannot copy name_of_file :
the request could not be performed because of an I/O   device  error".

I did some trial and error work dis/en-abling certain switches in my SCSI- bios without success so far (Initiate Wide Negotiation / Disable Disconnection / Support for Ultra SCSI Speed / ...).

Thank you for your replies !
