Capture Analog Video from Video Camera through USB/FW?
I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop with both integrated USB and FireWire ports.  I'd like to use one of them (preferably the fastest) to capture video from my old Sony video camera.  The camera has S-Video and RCA Out ports but I need to know what devices are out there that'll allow me to do this work using USB/FW.

I've seen things like ATI's TV Wonder USB device which is good for TV but I'd like something for my video camera.  Any ideas?

Dazzle's USB products will only capture uncompressed video at 320x240 at 30fps and 30 fields per second which means youre going to take a quality hit either by size, compression or field rate. They do however make a DV bridge for firewire though it doesnt say what the max uncompressed rez, frames/s or fields/s are I imagine its quite a bit higher than the USB devices.

Your other route is to simply get any video capture board that has analog s-video or RCA jacks. Probably cheaper.

It's a firewire product -> follow my link ...

Weed :your link describe the same product ...
--------
Cheaper video capture device = pci card ... no pci slot with laptop or you need a deskstation ( cost !)

You can find PCMCIA product, but price is high (250$)...
example :

You can use a Dazzle peripheral on a laptop or on a desktop ...
