Why battery does not charge to 100%?
I am using an IBM Thinkpad with Windows 2000 Professional. However, the power meter would only shows up as 99% even when fully charged. When the charge goes down to warning level and I turn on the AC power to recharge it, after fully charged the meter would shows the battery level as 99% only. Is there anyway to have it show as 100%? Why doesn't it shows the correct level? Or is it really only at 99% charged?
Appreciate any pointers

I agree with both comments.
Just to add to Havalchy's comment:
The actual cause is the cells inside the battery. The IBM thinkpads of that time used NiCad AA batteries in teh battery pack. If you overcharge them or use the laptop until they are dead and only charge it to 50% you risk the cells developing what is called memory. This is common with all NiCad cells, that is why we use Lithium now as they are not as volitile.
