XP Drivers for Lexmark Z23 Printer Never Fully Load
Hi Everyone:
I am trying to help a friend get a printer which is connected to a USB hub to work. Basically, toward the end of the printer driver installation, I get the following error message: Printer driver was not installed. The specified print monitor is unknown.
Any thoughts or suggestions for correctly adding this printer will be appreciated.

I believe you need to plug the printer directlky into the computer. Some devices just won't work through a USB hub.

Lexmark is still pretty picky. Try connecting it directly to the ocmputer before loading the driver. When you do, be sure to follow the install instructions to the letter.

glad you have it up and working. those lexmark printers have pretty good image quality.
ASKER
Just as a curious followup of this post, when I went to Manual Install, I had several options to choose from with respect to interface. For instance, LPT1, LPT2, Serial 1, Serial 2, Virtual Drive to USB. Which one should be chosen if the printer interfaces with the USB hub? I believe Virtual Drive to USB but I am not sure.
