24 vs. 20 pin motherboard power connector

I am attempting to move a motherboard from one computer case to another.  The power supply in the new case has a 24 pin connector.  The motherboard has a 20 pin connector.

I asked the case manufacturer what to do and they told me just to plug in the 24 pin connector into the 20 pin slot, leaving the 4 extra pins hanging off of the end of the connector.  Does that sound right?
