Windows XP Will not load on new motherboard and cpu

When you do a major Hardware switch then winxp needs to be reinstalled again.
So you need to do a repair installation of win xp :

Yes but when I boot from the Windows XP installation cd it loads for a bit in the blue screen then at the bottom it say Starting Windows then its restarts itself and goes throught it again

you need to do a re-installation of xp, follow what it says on the link i provided

Again, can you please move the harddisk back to the old hardware and then start from there, if the winXP installation cd won't even load on the new hardware you'll have a terrible job recovering.

Ok LucF I went to the link you gave me but now in dos iit says "Verifying DMI Pool Data" then it says "disk read error press ctrl-alt-del to restart"

Ok, is this a Serial-ATA drive or SCSI drive?
Have you tried connecting the harddisk to the old or new motherboard?

This is a Serial-ATA harddrive and yes I have tried connecting it to the old motherboard and I works fine

This as at this moment you've installed the most basic IDE controller driver (so not a SATA driver) which is most likely the reason you're having these troubles at the moment. (I'll notify FE to add this to his page)

Best thing to try now is to boot into recovery console (make sure to install the SATA drivers at the beginning of the installation) then, try FIXBOOT.

If that doesn't help, you'll have to manually go back to the original SATA drive by performing a system restore:

Just wondering... is your BIOS set to boot from the cd-rom drive? Or is your system still trying to boot from the harddisk?

No I set it to boot from the CD-ROM first and if I formated my hard rive would it work with the new motherboard?

Yeah, if you don't care about the information which is on the drive at the moment, of course, the easiest and best way out is always to do a clean installation as it'll make sure no junk from the previous installation is left.

Uh-Oh...  I do need to update my page and let everyone know that this method is to be used only for IDE drives...  Sry about that guys...

I have never attempted to move a SATA System Partition drive to a new motherboard, but I wonder...  If you placed the drive in a new computer, then booted to your XP OS CDrom, and hit F6...  Then installed the SATA drivers from the Motherboard disk..  Let it finish going through the setup...  Once you get to the First Setup window, elect to reboot, take out the XP Cdrom..  It should boot to Windows, should it not?

Also, make sure your boot menu in the BIOS is set to boot to that SATA drive too....

you will need to reinstall your XP, as then you first install your system it records a few details into a file and set up a SID ID, this stops people stealing you hard driver and placing it into a new machine.

you can download a SID remover and then move the hard drive. and when u place it into a new machine then it will look for the XP CD and reinstall the SID.
