Negear FVG318

I have this router, I do not wish to purchase ProSafe VPN Licenses.

Will the Windows Networking VPN Connections work with this router?

Ok...now here is the poking and prodding...I'm just going to offer this for tonight....it's 9:44pm in Hawaii, and just about to leave the house to enjoy the night.

Post your server operating system, version and number of CAL's that you have.
include the number of workstations that you have on your network.

One thing to consider is that if you are short on the software in the server platform, then the Netgear VPN client licenses will look more appealing...something to keep in mind.

AND, you posted this under ROUTERS....you may want to post a message in support to point to your server platform, that way you attract the Server Experts.  I'll follow this Q.

ciao for now

Hi Irwinpks, Thanks for the response. Let me show you what I mean...Windows XP Support VPN Connections, see this article:

I'm curious if this type of VPN connection will work the Netgear Router, as far as I know this doesn't require NT Server. However, we do have Win 2000 Server with 5 CALs...

Brian
It should work, and you have the recipe there.  Most newer generation models like the FVG318 will allow this.  I personally would prefer excercising the hardware solution in your ProSafe, versus taxing your server.
Ok, it allows multiple protocols such as CHAP, CHAP 2, etc, any idea which protocol I would need for Netgear router?
