The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

PE 1850 & XP continued...

Asked by surfrider26 in Computer Servers, Hard Drives & Storage

I had an original question posted which is below:

"I am trying to install XP pro on a PowerEdge 1850. I have an external floppy drive connected. I pressed the F6 key to install a 3rd party SCSI driver. Then pressed "S". It reads the floppy drive, It is looking for a file called txtsetup.oem

Where do I find the driver file to put on the floppy drive, keeping in mind it has to fit the 1.4MB file size limit?"

That question was answered and I managed to get the RAID driver to install. I should have waited but I closed the discussion. But unfortunately now there seems to be another hurdle. With the extracted files on the disk, it gave me two options, 1 for Win2K and one for Win2K3. Since XP is pirmarily based on Win2K, I selected that.

It continued through the installation, I selected the partition size, but now this is what it is asking me.

" Insert Disk Labeled"
"DELL PERC RAID Products for Windows 2000"

Does this mean that I chose the wrong driver for the RAID? It found it and and formated it and everything, or is this something additional, as the original driver I have on the disk isnt what its looking for...
