The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Best RAID configuration for SBS 2003 with Exchange, CRM, SQL server

Asked by ruud00000 in Computer Servers, SBS Small Business Server, SQL Server 2005

I want to install e newly acquired server (Dell PowerEdge 6600, 4xXeon 2.0, 4Gb, 4x36Gb) from scratch. BasicalIy I wish to run SBS 2003 R2 Premium (or server 2008??) with Exchange and SQL server 2005 (or later) and MS CRM 3.0 (or later) on it. Users nomore than 5, so nothing to do with CAL's. I use Microsoft Action Pack licences.

I wonder what RAID configuration would be wise to start off with (0,1,5,10, hot spare), and where to install what. What to install on seperate disks, what not. On the server I currentlly have running, I have 4x18Gb, OS and CRM and exchange and SQL running on disk '1' (mirrored RAID 1 to disk '2') and database and other userdata on disk '3' (mirrored RAID 1 to disk '4'). But I'm not so sure that this is the best way to do it.

Later on I may have a question or two specifically on how to do this on this machine.Start Free Trial
