The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Computer wont get through POST, Screen wont come on.

Hi all,

I was working on a computer to resolve a few problems, one problem the user had reported was hardware, if the computer had to be restarted or shut down, when powered back up the screen would not come on, not even to the BIOS menu, a couple more hard restarts would get it back up and running. Now however it will not come on at all. I have swapped out graphics card, and still the screen will not come on. I have also removed power and taken the CMOS battery out for a good 10 minutes then put it back, still nothing.
The motherboard does have an LCD display which goes through a set of numbers and letters then halts on 49 which I think from the online manual means (Initialize PCI bus and devices)

I did just try moving the RAM to another slot, to find that it was extremely hot to touch and that moving it made no difference.

There are no beeps.

System spec is as follows.
Motherboard: Tyan Tempest i5000PX
Processors: 2 x Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5320
Graphics: Geforce 8800 GTX ULTRA
RAM: 1 x 2GB DDR2-667 PC5300
Soundcard: Creative X-Fi Pro
HDD: 2 x 500GB SATA
CD: LG CD/DVD RW (SATA)
PSU: Antec P190 Black Midi Case NEO-LINK 1200W (550W+650W)

If I am missing any important info please ask?

Thank you for any help.
