i have had too many problems with onboard raid. you can only create a raid with a new installation of windows

Raid Card, any suggestions?
Im building a server for a pharmacy, using the tyan s5197 motherboard and i want to use raid card. Im using 4 hd's(sata), Raid 5 and dont want to spend more the 400. give or take some. Suggestions, the card i usually use, must my discontinued

You might try the Promise FASTTRAK SX4100. It's around $230. If you aren't locked in to that motherboard, there are others that have SATA RAID built in.
