The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Upgraded NIC driver in BL460c to latest version now NIC non functional help?

Asked by Ellis_F in Computer Servers, Network Cards & Adapters

Hi Guys.

I am hoping that you can help me. We have a C class blade server that holds HP BL460c's. We discoverd recently that when we team the NIC's in any of these servers it causes them to BSOD.

The suggested solution was to upgrade the HP NCU to most recent version and to also upgrade the Network drivers.

Old Drivers
HP NCU V8.60.0.11
NIC Driver 3.0.5.0

New Drivers
HP NCU V8.80.0.12
NIC Driver 4.1.3.0

I downloaded them from HP's website, I ran the NCU program fine, however When I ran the install program for the NIC's they disappeared from devce manager. two items with yellow exclamations appeared in system devices next to 'NC373i Virtual Bus device'

Any attempt to rerun the install results in a message from installer saying that it has failed.  I have tried rolling back the driver but am unable to, I have tried to reapply the proliant support pack (7.9) but it wont' reaaply the older driver.

I have tried uninstalling the devices and using the add hardware wizard - this results in WIndows automatically re-installing the newer driver that stll doesn't work.

Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me get the NIc's up and runnig again?

Any help would be much appreciated Start Free Trial
