The storage calculation isn't that complicated. You start by estimating current storage requirements. You can divide your user base into groups which would have different storage requirements. For example, you may have average storage requirements such as
Information Services: 1 GB per person x 5 staff
Accounting: 2 GB per person x 10 staff
Sales: 500 MB x 10 staff
You then multiply the above numbers by the numbers of staff in each group. to get
Information Services: 5 GB
Accounting: 20 GB
Sales: 5 GB
Total requirements today: 30 GB.
You should then estimate projections for the next five years, then you can plan your storage requirements for the next 5 years. It's the same calculation, except that you are estimating needs in the next 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5th year.
