I can't get the ServeRAID Manager to work
Hello,
I have installed the RaidMan-9.00.i386.rpm using the instructions here - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=597256
Basically what I have done is converted to .deb with alien, and removed the following lines from Raidman_9.00-1_i386/DEBIAN /postinst and postrm
chkconfig --add raid_agent
chkconfig --del raid_agent
In the RaidEvtA.log I can see that it recognizes the controller (see code).
However, arcconf and hrconf don't recognize any controller.
Since I don't have X on this server, I have also tried installing the .deb onto a different machine and forwarded ports 34570 to 34580 using ssh to a third machine. I ran RaidMan.sh on the second machine and tried connect remotely to the third machine. I got "Could not connect to Remote Computer"
How can I make it work?
Thanks!

Hi Gns,
Thank you for your response, and yes - of course i started the agent :)
Well, using the X interface is not what I wanted to do -- after posting my question I did manage to run the GUI RaidMan (by installing some of the X packages and connecting via ssh) -- I wanted a command line utility.
I resolved the command line issue by using an older CD -- IBM ServeRaid 7.10b Support CD and using ipssend i managed to access my controller.
Thank you anyway for your help.

Thank you all for your help
Hi Dave,
I am having the same issue, when you boot from the cd, how did you set it up to allow to use the new drive?

I don't have a tape drive connected to this machine.
Windows Event Viewer?
I am using Debian GNU/Linux
In /var/log/messages though, the 3 attached lines are added every few seconds only while the RaidAgent is running.
Do I need the RaidAgent to be running in order to use hrconf / arcconf ?
I tried both ways and I get the same result.
