Low Disk space on C: on windows 2003 server standard edition

I am running Low disk space on C: under windows 2003 server Standard Edition. The total Size of the C drive assigned was 40 GB and it was running fine. But suddenly when I checked the space it was showing me low disk space and was dropped to 50 MB. I managed to get back to 500MB upto now. But it is getting lower as the time is passing. Can anyone helpme on this. I have'nt installed new programs as well. Just the system programs and all the required softwares. Any assistance on this will highly be appreciated. Thank You in advance.
