The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

HP Proliant ML150 won't boot into O/S. Adaptec SCSI 29160 waiting for devices...

Hi there,

I have an HP ML150 Proliant server running Windows 2003 SBS. This is my disaster recovery server and is only turned on if needed or for testing. I am attempting to restore data to my server however i cannot boot into the O/S.  I have an HP  Storageworks DAT72x6 external backup tape drive plugged into the external SCSI port at the back and am running 5 SCSI drives in a non-RAID setup.  My problem is that when i boot the server on (with or without the HP Storage works tape drive plugged in) the server just sits in the bios and the O/S won't load.  It attempts to detect devices and only finds the HP external tape drive.  It just sits at:
"Hit <CTRL +A> for Adaptec setup, Waiting for devices."

If i hit <CTRL A> it just stays on "Please wait...Adaptec Setup Utility will be invoked after POST". I am not sure what this means.  I have done a SCSI device check and all it finds are my backup tape drive on ID#5 and the SCSI controller card Adaptec 29160LP on ID#7.  SHould i be seeing my drives here??  WHy can i not boot into the O/S??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
