The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

We have recently purchased a new HP ProLiant ML370 G5 Tower Server.  Following is the configuration:

DUAL Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® E5345 (2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 2x4MB L2 cache) Processor
HP 4GB Fully Buffered DIMM PC2-5300 4X1GB Memory
Two (2) HP 72GB Hot Plug 2.5 SAS 15,000 rpm Hard Drive
Four (4)  HP 146GB Hot Plug 2.5 SAS 10,000 rpm Hard Drive
HP Smart Array P400/256 PCIe Controller

This will be replacing an older server.  The old server was a a custom built server which is having many issues.

Before we start we would liek to get some advance help to make sure that the setup will go as somthly as possible.

The OS is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise.
We will be installing SQL Server 2005 Enterprise as well.

This server will have ONLY the following roles:
          1) SQL Server 2005
          2) Web-Based Application Server
          3) Terminal Services (to be used by bookkeepers to access accounting package with print function capabilities from remote sites)

We intend to install all softwares on RAID 1 using the two HP 72GB Hot Plug 2.5 SAS 15,000 rpm Hard Drives.  And we intend to install SQl Server databses on RAID 5 using the four HP 146GB Hot Plug 2.5 SAS 10,000 rpm Hard Drives.

Given our setup and requirements, could you please give us any advance information that will help us before we start installing the OS and the other softwares.

Please be as specific as possible.
