The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Server Hardware Requirements For 40-50 User Citrix/Terminal Server Setup.

Asked by gcz in Computer Servers, Citrix, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services

Tags: ,

Hi there,

Bit of an open question, but I'm just looking for some pointers please. I have been asked to look into the possibility of switching some of users over to a thin client/server setup, either using Citrix XenApp or MS Terminal Server. Problem is, I know not a lot about Citrix, or the hardware requirements for this sort of setup.

We have come to the point where we need to replace a number of old office machines and are trying to weigh up replacing them with new machines, or using them as thin clients connected to a central server.

Applications that users would need to access are MS Office apps, a company database system, a desktop fax system, and various other small apps.

We would be looking at providing this facility for 50 users, using thin clients in the office and also remotely.

My question is, what sort of server hardware would really be required to cater for this sort of demand? As we would have this many people using this (the majority of our company), fault tolerance would be of great concern also. Would I be looking at load balancing 2 or 3 servers or maybe clustering them?

I know there is probably ten ways to answer this sort of question, but I would appreciate some pointers as my knowledge of this is limited at best.
