Raid 1 failed drive and different size drive

Asked by harpethtech in Computer Servers, Computer Hard Drives

Have a Raid 1  configured  and one of drives 75GB showed a failure I was able to reset the drive by simply removing and reinserting the drive and then using dell array manager tell the drive to rebuild and it was successful. However dell tech I spoke with is concerned the drive might fail again. So dell sent a replacment drive that is 146GB size drive instead of a 75GB drive. I thought all RAID drives had to be same size? If not I  assume that the extra space will be lost is that correct?  Just a little nervous about drives no longer being the same size before I do hot swap and find out  have taken out the mirror and the server.
