Dell DRAC 6 Express Console Session

i've used the Dell DRAC 4/p cards in the past and found the console VNC session useful.

I've just installed a new server with a DRAC 6 Express card embedded. Can this card do the same console VNC session that the 4/p does, or do I need a seperate DRAC card installing?

The Drac 6 is an upgrade to the Drac 4 and is now available on Dell's new 11th Gen Servers. You do not need to buy and additional Drac

Console VNC session? Did you mean VNC (real VNC) http://www.realvnc.com/vnc/index.html?

If yes, they are two different tools with different functionalities. VNC is using RDP only works when your OS is up and running. DRAC card and its console can let you view the POST boot of a HW prior to OS. VNC is pretty much compatible with all platform and operates independently with DRAC.

The DRAC do support a connection on the VNC port 5500 direct to the card. Its a virtual KVM connection.

The DRAC 4/P allows this on the poweredge 1800.

I've now found that I need the Enterprise version of the card. The express version doesn't support this feature.
