No - it really isn't. The 650F was a rebadged EMC FC5600 and it is OLD - it was a current model in 2000/2001, so it as at least 8 years old and technology has moved on. An entry level array such as the EMC AX4 will easily out-perform the 650F and at a fraction of the cost. Other issues you will have include getting hold of management software (yes - its Navisphere, but not as we know it) and all the necessary host connectivity software (the 650F used a nasty bit of work called ATF for path failover). I'm not sure that it is even worth your while to find the power cables to power it up.

t depends. Do you have all the hardware already available (Disk Drives, Interfaces etc.)? If yes, then this box would give you a large advantage over your maxtor thing. First of all, if there are many disks available you can get a really fast RAID setup. So you get speed and redundancy. So for important data I'd use that and not the maxtor (or the maxtor only as backup). If you don't have all the hardware available, particularly the HD's, then getting those will put a big hole in your pocket, as SCSI disks are very expensive, particularly re-branded ones which you'll need here.
