Asked by medent in Computer Servers, Red Hat Linux
Hi I would like to be able to evaluate a linux server to determine if the server has an optimal amount of memory installed. It has always been elusive because linux uses all the memory under the "cached" cateogory... and there always is some swap used as well - no matter how much ram is installed. Looking for some rules of thumb that would tell me the server could use more ram - I know when the server is excessively swapping and bogs down - but I do not want to wait until that happens.
