Question

can you install raid controllers after you have installed the Server OS

I have an IBM x360 server, this is the Primary Domain controller, the raid controllers were not installed initially.. is it possible to install them retrospectively and in doing so could any data be lost ?

Physically install the controller and let Windows install the required driver for it, image data off or do full backup, create array on RAID, restore image.

Just install the RAID controller on the server and assign a proper driver for your controller. Check on IBM website if there is a firmware upgrade is needed for the RAID controller. Next step is to perform full backup / re-image and continue to configure the RAID using IBM ServerGuide. You need to reboot your server and start the server using IBM ServerGuide and continue with your RAID configuration.
