Require 2 CPUs on an Intel Server SC5520HC Motherboard?
Hi I have just been informed by my distributer that I must purchase 2x E5520 Xeon Processors if I am to use an Intel SC5520HC Motherboard with 8GB (2x4GB) ECC RAM.
Just wanting to know any reasoning behind why this might be true or if not why it would be preferred/recommended?

The response I recieved from my distributer was:
This board has issues running on one cpu.It will work - but the ram will only show 4gb.

That seems strange - I would think it would be because you are running a 32-bit OS. If the board truly would only show 4GB in the BIOS with one cpu, I would go for a different motherboard. That kind of behavior is a sign of something defective.
