DELL PowerEdge T320 Server
Hi,
I recently purchased DELL PowerEdge T320 Server with four 600GB SAS 15K HDs on RAID 1 off PERC H710 Raid Controller. I wanted to add two 2TB SATA 7200rpm HDs, but online order on DELL website did not allow me to pick SATA HDs and the salesman said she could not add SATA drives in the same order either.
So I am in need of adding two 2TB SATA 7200rpm HD on my own and I have some questions:
(1) Can I just buy two 2TB SATA 7200rpm HDs from either third party online retailer like Server Supply? or do I have to buy them directly from DELL?
(2) Can I plug them into the hot-swap cage and go to RAID management software to create a new array? In other words, can SAS HDs be mixed with SATA HDs on the same controller as long as they are on different RAID configuration?
(3) Where do I download RAID management program on DELL website?
(4) Do you recommend that I apply Firmware for PERC H710 Raid Controller?

OK. I will seat the 2nd memory in the same colored slot then. BTW I am just curious ... what difference does it make? Will the server perform differently as it is?

I ordered the Server with 16GB of RAM and they used 1 stick of SAMSUNG memory. and I personally bought another 16GB of KINGSTON memory. When I looked at the memory banks on motherboard, they are colored in black and white. Original 16GB was on the first slot. I added my 16GB in the next slot in opposite color.
Was that ok?
