Server Hard-drive replacement using ACRONIS.
Hello,
we are interested in replacing the 2 130GB hard-drives in a DELL server with larger storage devices. We recently purchased ACRONIS for backup/imaging. In terms of the server enviroment, it is currently running WIN 2003 Standard Edition SVC PCK 2. the RAID configuration is 1.
can we simply create an ACRONIS image of the server, remove the 2 small hard-disks, install the larger 320GB devices, then drop the image on the server and boot up? We only have 2 physical disks in the server at this time. Overall, our goal is to increase the storage space on the existing server without changing any other configurations.

>paragon may offer the option to expand the image to the full size of the new drives
if not, be sure to expand the partitions later with disk management!
Paragonh has everything you need in terms of resizing during migration built in.
Pretty good product.
I resell Acronis and Paragon and they're both pretty close in terms of functionality.
Paragon is cheaper out of the box though.

My post was viable and would work.
It was different enough from the other posts to merit points.

If I remove the Paragon parts, nothing remains. The Asker specifically asked for Acronis advice.
>Break the mirror, remove 1 of the old drives, insert the new drive and just do a clone and resize to the new disk.
No brainer and the old disk is basically untouched.
My suggestion would have saved him steps and time by doing a straight clone rather than backing up and restoring.
Nobody else suggested it.
Acronis and Paragon both basically have this feature,so be it Acronis or Paragon,it would work.
