The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Juniper Netscreen 5GT: VPN passing traffic only one direction?

Asked by Edgerock in Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Networking Hardware Firewalls

Tags: ,

Our office has three locations connected by a VPN set up with Juniper Netscreen 5GT appliances in each location.  Each location is naturally on its own subnet:

Location A: 192.168.1.x
Location B: 192.168.4.x
Location C: 192.168.5.x

Location A has the domain controller and mail server. All clients at B and C can connect to the internal company web, mail server, etc, all hosted at site A. Clients at B and C can also ping client computers located at site A.

Location A, however, cannot ping clients at location B or C. I tried opening a remote desktop connections to the clients at location B and C and was not successful. More importantly, I am trying to deploy an IP conference phone to each of the locations, B and C. The phones are programed with all the necessary IP information, can report back to the phone system server located at A, but the phone system cannot return any data to the remote phones. This is most likely due to the same reasons that prevent pinging of clients at those locations, etc.

In short: traffic doesn't seem to be flowing freely between the sites even though some traffic is. What do I need to look at on the Juniper systems to open this up to get all traffic flowing freely between the sites?

Also, does anyone have a link to a good Juniper Netscreen 5GT user guide? I can't seem to find one that tells me anything I need to know in plain language.
