The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. External USB 2.0 hard disk is unreadable and unwritable becasue proper dismount was not possible

I have a western Digital 160GB USB 2.0 disk. It is servicable however recently I had a need to reset windows 2000. Becasue Windows 2000 had frozen I did this before the USB disk was disconnected. Now when I plug the disk in Windows 2000 recognises the USB disk but no folder window showing the files can be opened. File explorer takes an age to open becasue it cannot figure out what is going on with this disk. I have tried chkdisk /x f: and this fails. It seems some critical sectors on the initialisation sectors of the disk have become corupted. There is a lot of data on the disk.Start Free Trial
