The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Troubleshooting SCSI card - Autoloader - DPM 2007 Tape backup failure.

Asked by Robins_Morton in Removable Backup Media, Miscellaneous Hardware, Backup & Restore Software

Currently running DPM 2007 with Adaptec 29320LPE SCSI card, attaching a Quantum Superloader 3.  Tape backups kick off fine up to around 55 GB's, but then fail with the following error in DPM:

Type:      Tape backup
Status:      Failed
Description:      DPM encountered a critical error while performing an I/O operation on the tape in Drive Quantum LTO 3 Tape Drive. (ID 30101 Details: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error (0x8007045D))

Corresponding Errors in Event Log:

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      adpu320
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      15
Date:            5/30/2008
Time:            7:14:33 PM

Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\adpu3201, is not ready for access yet.

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      QLTOx32
Event Category:      None
Event ID:      11
Time:            7:14:33 PM

Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\TapeDr.

I understand the current autoloaders are Multi-LUN...and have configured the Adaptec as such...but to no avail.  I've also applied a hotfix from Microsoft (KB946647) which corresponds to the I/O error seen in DPM...although it specifically applies to when tapes are full (which isn't the case here).

Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated!Start Free Trial
