Thanks but I'm looking for a policy type document
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI am rolling out a new enterprise backup solution (NetBackup) and I will trying to define backup and restore policies.
The business side of the house has not given me any SLAs - which is good.
Here is basically what I am looking at
4 week retention policy on tape, 1 week on tape.
Weekly full and daily incrementals.
How do I go about organizing all of this information (I don't want to reinvent the wheel)? Should I create backup levels (Ex Gold Silver and Brooze) and assign servers to them?
This is not an archiving solution (Ex keep email for 3 year because of some legal reasons)
Are there any standard enterprise templates to follow or draw from?

depend on the size of your tape but generally:
use 4 cycles (as in 1 tape per week) and let each run during 1 week period
setup the tape for 4 week overwrite protection and Infinite append (so you can add data as long as you have free space
