How do I connect my laptop to the internet using wireless?

I just purchased a laptop...i'm familiar on how to connect it using a cable to the internet, however, I don't know how to connect it using wireless...

I want to bring my laptop w/ me anywhere I go with internet connection.

What do I need?
Do I need a wireless router? and if do will I have to connect it at home? I'm already using a linksys router at home...does this mean I might have to change it to wireless? or is there anyway on connecting a wireless router and just a normal router?

Do I need an ethernet wireless card for my laptop?

How does it work? How will I get an internet connection if I'm not around my house?
