Google Desktop Search does not index all the subfolders inside My Documents. I do not understand why, but here is a clue: when I create a new subfolder with a new name inside My Documents and move the files from a subfolder not indexed by GDS, than GDS can finally find it...
My problem is: I have a LOT of subfolders inside My Documents and I would like to avoid to create manually new folders and move all my file to new locations. Is there a way to let GDS index all my folders instead of creating new folders and moving all my files?
I cannot be sure, but I strongly suspect these subfolders not to be indexed because they may inherit former permissions (from previous WinXP install). I explain: I had two partitions, C for the system, and D for all my documents. I formated C to reinstall windows and then re-used D partitions for my documents (and I did this a few times already). Thus my documents are safe and never deleted. However, re-using folders from previous Windows installations may generate problems, right? If so, how to restore default permission settings for all my folders on D partition ? I would like to be sure that GDS indexes everything on D, and does not forget any folder (some of them are properly indexed).
