Javascript Enable Disable button if text entered

I need to enable the submit button based on whether text has been entered in the textarea. This would need to be done using javascript. Must work on IE and also firefox.

Could some one please show me how this can be done. Given below is the textarea and submit button code snippet: If in txtareaCondolences text is entered then would need to enable btnSubmit.
