Need help layering line art into graphic logo

I'm trying to add a french press line art like the one here http://cuturl.com/?660037 into a graphic logo like the one here (placed in between the words)  http://cuturl.com/?922035

I can't get a smooth enough transition between the line art and the background.  I'd like it to be quite perfect because I plan to use it for a Website and promo literature.
