This may have less to do with ImageMagick and more to do with image resize algorithms.
I have a 21600x21600 pixel image in a PNG format.
When I resize it to 5400x5400, it resizes pretty fast
However, when I resize to 10800x10800, it goes really slow
I'm talking about the difference between 5 minutes and 2 hours
Another interesting thing, when the 10800x10800 resize finishes, the file size is 400 Megs where the original 21600x21600 image is only 200 Megs..
I find that strange.
Any idea what's going on here? I'd like it to go faster and not increase the file size -- I kinda need something lossless, but I might be able to get by with minimum-compression jpgs
