Old certificate presented to users even after renewing and installing the new certificate in IIS.

Asked by seanab in Secure Socket Layer (SSL) & HTTPS, Exchange Email Server, Microsoft IIS Web Server

I had a certificate that was due to expire on my OWA server so I renewed it (from Thawte). In IIS I selected "renew certificate" and proceeded from there. I used the certificate request file from IIS to obtain a certifcate file from Thawte. I downloaded this from Thawte as a txt file and saved it to the local drive on my IIS server. Then I proceeded with the remainder of the Cert request process in IIS, selected the txt file and saved. When I view the default website in IIS it looks fine, witht the new certificate, websites running etc. Only when external clients try to connect via OWA or mobile device to receive email are we made aware that in fact the old certificate is still being passed on. It is expired at this point. I've restarted the IIS, SMTP, HTTP SSL, WWW services to no avail. It feels like I'm getting some sort of cached certificate. What can I do to ensure my new certificate is being passed on to clients that want to connect?

thanks
