Here is my current situation. We have 2 storage unit locations where we rent self storage space. Each location has their on computer (win xp pro, IIS installed and running, & a static IP address,) where we collect payments and can sign up renters. The program has a web interface so people can sign up online.
We also have a website up and running that has links pointing to each individual site so that people can take advantage of the online payment and rental options. (links not currently enabled since no security is currently in place.)
So essentially its one domain with links pointing to 2 separate servers depending on where they want to do business.
I am needing some assistance on what type of SSL certificate to buy and where to install it. I was told to buy a Wild Card Certificate that covers all subdomains and essentially create 2 subdomains on our storage site and point it to each individual location. But the host company doesnt support wildcard certifications.
Do I just need 2 separate SSL certs for each location running IIS, since that is where the transactions are taking place? Does IIS on Win XP take third party certifications or just self assigned ones? If so how does one go about installing it.? I was looking at purchasing them from GoDaddy.
Any assisatance is appreciated! Thanks
