The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Trying to configure googlebox to crawl server using SMB authentication with X.509 certificates

I have been tasked with making a google box crawl a secure share. By secure, I mean the domain has root CA that uses autoenrollment  to pass out certificates to users and machines.  I have been exporting cert files to make this work.  I have run into a snag.  I can export the  cert file but I cannot seem to export a key file by itself.  Windows certificates snap -in only asks me if I want to export the key along with the certificate.  It ends up exporting it to a filetype google box cant use.  googlebox is looking for the kind of files you get back from a CA like verisign or thawte.  there is a .key file and a .cert file.
currently, I can export the cert file in 64 Base format which googlebox seems to like.  But I am not able to do it for just a key file.  I am not that experienced with using  root CA that generates its own certificates
If anyone has experience in this please tell me what I can do or what is the process for setting up third party servers or appliance to talk with your domain using X.509 certificates.    I have successfully uploaded a root CA cert to the google box.  I have successfully generated a certificate request and received a certificate from the CA.  I then exported that to a file and  uploaded that to the googlebox where it requires SSL cert.   I have not been able to upload the key file.  Thanks for any help you can give.  Start Free Trial
