Process for mass-mailing existing customers?

Asked by jcordle in Marketing, Internet Marketing, Anti-Spam Email Software

Hello -

We have a database of customers that have filled out registration cards for our products that they've purchased.

The VP of marketing has asked that I gather e-mail addresses from this list and prepare to e-mail a large quantity of them to introduce our new product. I have not done anything like this before. In a way, I guess it would be the same as any company that sends out a regular newsletter.

We are running Windows 2003, Exchange 2003 and Office 2003 on our network.

Questions:

-> What is the best way to import the customer data into an e-mail message (there will be a few thousand records)?

-> Should I be concerned about my server exhibiting spam-like behavior?

-> How do other companies do this process?

Thanks in advance!
