The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Dedicated Name Sever lost after domain expired

Asked by cawthron in Web Development, ISPs & Web Hosting, Web Servers

Hey,

1st off - I am a complete beginner when it comes to Name Servers and DNS stuff...

I host a few websites under the domain a2cglobal.com. I use to use the name servers:

Primary DNS : ns60.a2cglobal.com
Primary DNS IP : 66.98.208.65

Secondary DNS : ns61.a2cglobal.com
Secondary DNS IP: 66.98.209.13

For all my domains. Not too long ago the domain "a2cglobal.com" expired and the domains did not resolve. I fixed this by setting them to generic name server that it used when you first get the hosting account. They are currently:

Primary DNS : ns60.anyservers.com
Primary DNS IP : 66.98.208.65

Secondary DNS : ns61.anyservers.com
Secondary DNS IP: 66.98.209.13

I then went and brought a2cglobal.com again and really want to use my old Name Servers - as it is a bit more professional.

I contacted my hosting provider (IVHosting.com) with my query and their response was this:

"Hello,
the only way to fix this issue will be to terminate your all domain names and whole reseller account and set up the account for correct DNS servers. If your domain names work you should leave this as is. We do not recommend use private DNS servers just for this reason, customers forget to renew the domain names, move them, lost them etc."

Is this correct, Can any one help me out? Is this just poor support staff, eg If I swap to another host will I be able to use a2cglobal name servers again?Start Free Trial
