The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Large Data Display Suggestions - Dynamic & Non-Interactive

Asked by NTNBower in Web Development, PHP Scripting Language, MySQL Server

We are trying to set up a kind of information board that will allow us to display data from a MySQL data base. I am finding that the amount of data we need to display is getting quite large - especially considering that we are looking for a NON-Interactive display (the only interaction expected right now is to visit the display page, no scrolling, no moving to another page etc... in fact the users are wanting to visit this page with a large screen display and just let it sit there displaying the data, possibly refreshing itself every 15 minutes or so. We were originally looking at displaying three days worth of data (past due, today, tomorrow) and as begin looking at the data I am thinking we are only going to be able to display maybe 1 days worth to have the display non-interactive, and the rest of the days will be interactive. I came with a rather small amount displayed using tables & frames (three frames containing tables displaying Past/Today/Tomm) which at readable font only allows me grids of about 9x2 for each section I need.

My question is - are there any other means of displaying large amounts of data in a non-interactive format that I can / should look into before proceeding with this and using the approach of tables and frames. The core of everything I am using is a LAMP install, and I am familiar  with PHP & its interaction with MySQL.
