The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Perl Module problem

Asked by Neville_Chinan in CGI Scripting, Perl Programming Language

I have used some code that retrieve XML data, it works fine.
When I try and use a perl module to do the job it doesn't return any values
For a test I coded
package My::Service;
#use Pod::WSDL;
use CGI;
use XML::Smart;
use strict;
our (@ipData, $XML, $site, $sitename);
my @ipData;
my $XML = XML::Smart->new('http://www.perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=16046') ;
my $xmlData = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO};
my $site = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{site};
my $sitename = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{sitename};
my $style = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{style};
my $gentimeGMT = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{gentimeGMT};
my $min_poll_seconds = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{min_poll_seconds};
my $foruser = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{foruser};
my $id = $XML->{XPINFO}{INFO}{id};
my $xp = $XML->{XPINFO}{XP}{xp};
my $level = $XML->{XPINFO}{XP}{level};
my $leveltitle = $XML->{XPINFO}{XP}{leveltitle};
my $xp2nextlevel = $XML->{XPINFO}{XP}{xp2nextlevel};
my $votesleft = $XML->{XPINFO}{XP}{votesleft};

#$site = "text";

sub ipLocation {

return $sitename;
}
1;

I the first cgi file it returns all the values read from the XML output fine.  When I code the perl module and get the function to return the value it does nothing.  However, if I assign the variable
say $sitename="site" at the top then it the perl file accessing the module will print "site" .  Which leaves me with the assumption that
the XML parser is not running properly in the custom module, or I have something missing.  Any ideas on how to get the variables to assign to the xml tags would be great.  ThanksStart Free Trial
