Open link out of an iframe

Dear all,

I am calling the following from an iframe:

I need content.htm to be open out of the iframe. If I was not using this script, just a normal link to open a new window, I would be doing target="_blank" and problem solved. But this script allows me to open a nice customized window that goes perfect with the rest of my web design.
Can the script be changed to open the new window out of the iframe? can somehow be changed to reproduce a target="_blank"?
 
I've done already:
  <a onclick="openmypage(); return false" href="#" target="_blank">Open it</a>
but it does not work.
