The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Add a web site to IIS 7

Asked by mpdillon in Microsoft IIS Web Server, Windows Server 2008

Tags: , ,

I would like to add my web site to IIS 7. I have opened IIS 7 Manager. I have right clicked on Sites and selected New Site. Here is where I get lost.

The sites name is Easyschedule.biz. But it is redirected from DynDns.Com to www2.easyschedle.biz:7171.

This has to pass through my Sonicwall TZ170. For those of you familiar with the TZ170, I have created an Firewall Access Rule. This rule Allows the service AltWebSite to have a destination of the IP address of my IIS 7 on Windows server 2008. I also have two Firewall Services Custom Service. One is for AltWebSite Protocol TCP(6) with a port range of 7171 to 7171. There is a second a Firewall Service Custom Service. This one is for AltWebSite Protocol UDP(17) with a port range of 7171 to 7171. These setting were made a few years ago> At that time I tested them and they worked fine. I do not believe anything has changed except I am using Windows Server 2008 rather than Windows server 2003.

From the Add Web Site dialog what do I put in:
Site Name  (Easyschedule?)
Application Pool  (DefaultAppPool?)
Physical Path  (C:\Easyschedule?)
Pass through Authentication Connect As  (Application User (Pass through authentication)?).  When I test this I get two results.
1.A green check mark for Authentication Passthrough authentication(DefaultAppPool:NetworkServices).
2.A Yellow exclamation mark for Authorization (Cannot verify access path)

Binding:
Type  (http?)
IP Address  (the IP address of my Windows Server 2008?)
Port (7171?)
Host Name (www2.easyschedule.biz:7171 or www2.easyschedule.biz or www.easyschedule.biz ?)

The settings I have tried are followed by a question mark. It is not working so I must be doing something wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions?

And is there something else I should set on Windows Server 2008. I have turned off the firewall off Domain, Public and Private.

For investigative purposes is there a log I could look at to see if the www2.Easyware.biz:7171 requests are making into Window Server 2008 or IIS7?

Thanks,
Pat
